What electrical work is involved in a subdivision?

There are a few things you may need a licensed electrician for when undertaking a subdivision. For example;

Installing a new electricity supply

If you’re creating a new lot, you usually need to provide an underground point of power supply. Before you can do this, you need to submit an application to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) and pay the associated fees. They will usually refer your application to Western Power to review against relevant servicing requirements. Western Power will usually recommend certain conditions relating to reticulation, removal of asset and easements etc before the work can be undertaken. Once these conditions have been added to your application, WAPC will likely approve your application and your subdivision can proceed.

Once your application has been approved, it’s time to give us a call so we can set up your power supply and connect your meter box and wiring. This type of work should only be completed by a licenced subdivision electrician.

Changing existing connections from overhead to overground

This is usually required when the existing dwelling needs to be retained and it currently has an ‘overhead supply’. We can provide you with a free, no-obligation quote to replace your existing overhead consumer main with an underground consumer main.

Internal electrical installations

Once your subdivision is underway, we can help with all the other stuff too, including installing electrical sockets, supplying lighting, and installing air conditioning. We can even help you design your outdoor lighting to help spruce the place up. We are up to date with all the latest electrical technology and we love to share ideas on how we can help you bring it into your home.

How much will it cost?

Depending on the type of service you require, the price for subdivision electrical work can vary. We’re happy to provide a free, no-obligation quote for your subdivision needs. Give us a call!
